  • Vice Chancellor for Research and Friends of the Hall Center Book Publication Awards

    Deadline: Monday, September 16, 2019 11:59pm Provides up to $1,500 in financial support to aid in the publication of a manuscript based on humanities research, written by a KU faculty member and accepted by a refereed press. The awards can be used to reimburse the authors' expenses related to illustration or indexing costs, or to provide a subvention to the presses publishing the books.   • Mid-Career Research Fellowship

    Deadline: Monday, October 7, 2019 11:59pm

    The Mid-Career Research Fellowship is intended to contribute to a mid-career faculty member's scholarly growth by providing a full academic year of release time from teaching and regular service obligations. This fellowship will provide faculty members at the Associate Professor level an opportunity to stay engaged in research and writing by undertaking a post-tenure research project of the kind required for promotion to Full Professor.

  • Hall Center Resident Faculty Fellowship

    Deadline: Monday, November 4, 2019 11:59pm

    The Hall Center's Resident Fellowships provide one semester of release time from teaching and service, taken in the Fall or Spring semester, so that awardees can focus entirely on research or creative work and scholarly engagement.  Fellows receive up to $1,000 in reimbursement for project-related expenses they incur during the fellowship year and an office at the Hall Center.  The award also makes funding available to the Fellow's department to assist in the cost of a replacement teaching appointment for the residency semester.

  • Humanities Col(LAB)oratives

    Deadline: Monday, December 23, 2019 11:59pm Offers faculty in the humanities and humanities-oriented social sciences the opportunity to work collaboratively through a new model-a 3-year long Humanities Col(LAB)orative. A LAB can receive up to $30,000 per year, for a maximum of $90,000 over a three-year period, contingent upon successful annual reviews by Hall Center leadership. Each LAB will be organized around a central humanistic theme or topic. This competition will run once every three years. View Application Instructions...
  • Scholars on Site

    National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipend Nomination

    Deadline: Monday, August 19, 2019 11:59pm

    National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Stipends support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two months. Successful applicants receive a stipend of $6,000. The Hall Center for the Humanities is the nominating body for the University of Kansas. Each year, two applications can be nominated for inclusion in the national competition.
