Sarah Lendt

The Research Development Officer oversees the activities of the Research & Grant Development Office. She facilitates and enhances the grant and fellowship activities of KU faculty and graduate students in the humanities, alerts them to external funding opportunities, encourages them to apply to external sources for funding of their research, curriculum, and institutional development initiatives, assists them through the application process, and tracks the results of their efforts.

Sarah Arbuthnot Lendt brings more than 20 years of experience in research development, grants administration, and project management, with expertise in helping faculty and research teams secure external funding and manage complex research initiatives. Prior to joining the University of Kansas Office of Research, Sarah served as Research Project Manager and Grant Development Lead for the History of Black Writing, where she led proposal development and managed federally and foundation-funded humanities projects. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with faculty, campus partners, and community organizations to support interdisciplinary research, public scholarship, and strategic funding initiatives. Sarah earned both her M.A. in English and her bachelor's degree in English with Honors from the University of Kansas.

Sarah has held this position in the KU Office of Research since August 2026.
