Sarah Lendt

The Research Development Officer oversees the activities of the Research & Grant Development Office. She facilitates and enhances the grant and fellowship activities of KU faculty and graduate students in the humanities, alerts them to external funding opportunities, encourages them to apply to external sources for funding of their research, curriculum, and institutional development initiatives, assists them through the application process, and tracks the results of their efforts.

Sarah Arbuthnot Lendt joins the Hall Center after a long and productive tenure as Research Project Manager for the History of Black Writing project. Sarah earned her M.A. in English from the University of Kansas in 2007. In her years with HBW, she coordinated a number of programs, including the NEH-funded Language Matters II: Reading and Teaching Toni Morrison (2005), Making the Wright Connection: Reading Native Son, Black Boy and Uncle Tom's Children (2010), Don't Deny My Voice: Reading and Teaching African American Poetry (2013), Black Poetry after the Black Arts Movement (2015), and Hurston on the Horizon: Past, Present, and Future (2021), as well as multiple iterations of the ACLS- and NEH-funded Black Book Interactive Project (BBIP) Scholars Program. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family. She and her husband have two children.
